Stats - Web Worldwide

Added on November 06th, 2007 - Impression Media

There are multiple sources for the Internet-using population of any given country. Because of differences in methodology, measurements for the same location can vary widely depending on the source. ClickZ Stats checks the accuracy of counts by comparing them to regional growth patterns and other projections to provide the most accurate and up-to-date statistics on the world Internet-using population available online.

Most figures in the table below come from the Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook, but we’ve included data from other sources where specified. For example, Computer Industry Almanac Inc. compiles Internet user data for over 50 countries, which it releases in an annual report. A detailed methodology for that report can be found here.

Another source is Nielsen//NetRatings, which tracks the number of active Internet users for approximately 20 nations, accounting for over 90 percent of the world’s active Internet population. The term “active Internet user” applies to people who go online at least once in a given month.

If you know of other studies that track the number of Internet users worldwide or in a specific region or country, please send them to ClickZ Stats for possible inclusion in the table below.
