Top U.K. Web Sites for August 2007

Google reached 89 percent of the U.K. online audience over 15 years old in August. That’s according to data released by comScore tracking the top online properties and the top gaining properties in Britain.

While Google served 28.3 million unique visitors in August, Microsoft served 26.8 million unique visitors, or 84 percent reach in the market. Auction site eBay received 21.6 million unique visitors, a 2.4 percent drop over the previous month. Yahoo gained 1.3 percent reach over its July results, however with just over 21 million unique visitors it was not enough to pass eBay.

The fastest-gaining Web property in the U.K. in August was Facebook, with an 18.3 percent change over the previous month’s unique visitors. Premiumtv.co.uk saw a 17.1 percent hike in unique visitors, and Disney Online grew its reach by 16.4 percent among adults 15 and over.

ComScore uses a panel of over two million users worldwide to capture browsing and transaction behavior including online and offline purchasing. The panel consists of Internet visitors over the age 15 from home and work locations, and excludes traffic from public computers at Internet cafes, mobile phones, and PDAs.
